How to Install a GPS on Chartflier
How to configure Chartflier for a Bluetooth GPS:
Prerequisites:
1. Computer must be connected to the Internet (to get drivers)
2. GPS needs to be a NMEA format GPS. (Not all are)
3. GPS should be located in a location with access to the sky. Your deck or window is a good location. The bluetooth device should be within 10' of the computer.
4. If the GPS has an auto-turn-off feature it should be disabled.
Enable on Bluetooth on your Machine
Click or your windows ICON and go to Control Panel
[START][RUN] CONTROL [ENTER]
Type Bluetooth in the search window

Choose "Change Bluetooth Settings"

Verify or change "Show bluetooth setting in notification area"
This enables the "B" in the lower right part of the notifcation area.
Click OK and return to the previous menu
Now turn on your Bluetooth GPS
Note: It is best if the GPS is in a window or has clear view of the Sky. It takes 120 seconds (2 minutes) for it to aquire location. Longer if the GPS has not been on in a while.
Click on "Add a Bluetooth Device" (On the control panel menu)
You will see a device in the Windows "window" labeled BT-GPS-xxxxxx

Click on that device
and then click on [NEXT]

Notice the "Connecting to the device" in the lower left.

Choose "Enter the device's pairing code".
If you don't; it will install but not work.


The computer will now connect to the Internet and install the driver.

Click on [CLOSE]
You will see messages in the lower right that indicated it is installing a driver. It will take up to 2 minutes for this to complete.. [Do not touch the computer or attempt to do any other action during this time]
Return to the Bluetooth Control panel and click on View Devices/printers or use the Bluetooth icon on the lower right to view.

Right Mouse click on the "BT-GPS-xxxxxx" and choose "Properties"

Click on the hardware tab

You need to know the COM port. It maybe 3 or 4 or as high as 99.
Stretch the NAME window if you need to to view the COM Port number
Close all of the Bluetooth and control panel windows
Launch Chartflier now

Click on [OK]

Click on Continue. (You can update the charts later)

Click on [GPS]

Change the PORT to what we found previously. In the example it is COM12
Click on Connect:
It should connect in 1-3 seconds and look like this:

Clicking on the READ Button will verify that you have information:

Close the window and chartflier will relocate your "Airplane/circle" to it's current location.

You will get a Blue hollow circle unless you are moving. If you are moving it will be an airplane.
