Essential Flight Technology and Adventure Pilot Bring Geo-referenced Approach Plates and Taxi Diagrams to the iFly GPS.
Atlanta, GA – August 30, 2011 – Essential Flight Technology announced today that the newest version of iFly 700 moving map GPS includes a subscription that uses Essential Flight Technology EssentialData to display aircraft position on approach plates and airport diagrams.
Essential Flight Technology developed the geo-referencing technology to allow NACO procedures and diagrams to be used in ChartFlier version 2.0. We developed a cost effective technology that allows us to use utilize the FAA’s NACO plates to reduce the cost of geocoded approach plates to improve the safety of general aviation. We consider that having situation awareness during instrument approaches and taxi a key component in improving safety in the aviation community. We share AdventurePilot’s view of innovation and cost effectiveness.
iFly GPS owners will now be able to see their current GPS position on top of the NACO Approach Plate and Airport Diagrams from EFT. This new geo-referenced Plates & Diagrams GPS mode will be implemented in the upcoming user downloaded Version 6 Software Update. Furthermore, a pilot will be able to see his flight plan and make split second modifications to the approach directly on the geocoded plate. This new feature further adds to the unprecedented supplemental situational awareness the iFly GPS offers for both VFR and IFR pilots.
